Congratulations to Sophie and Demi-Leigh who are Scottish Grand Prix champions for 2019 following the fourth and final event on 3rd November!

Here's what Sensei Ross had to say about their success and the squad performance at the final grand prix:

Sophie Howarth and Demi-Leigh Rennie... Scottish Grand Prix Grand Champions 2019.

Sophie won maximum points over 4 Grand Prix in the Senior Ladies and won SILVER last weekend.

Demi-Leigh won maximum points over 3 events in the 10-15 Kyu (under brown belt) event with Leigh Gausi a very close 2nd.

Demi-Leigh and Leigh moved up to Brown/Black event in the final Grand Prix last weekend, where I expected them to get beaten in the preliminary rounds.... but not our girls. They eliminated everyone on the way to the finals where Leigh won SILVER and Demi-Leigh won BRONZE.

Quite an achievement for their first time in the senior event.

For a small group like Karate Alba to win TWO Grand Champions is quite remarkable.

Thomas Fearns also competed at the Grand Prix. He comfortably won every round until he came up against the eventually winner Adam Richards - his rival! Great learning curve for Thomas who has made great improvements lately.

Sophie, Demi-Leigh, Leigh and I are travelling to Portugal next Thursday to compete at the Lisbon International - to get exposure and experience at International competition.
